What the Australian Shepherd Club of Ontario is all about....


Our Mandate:

  • The Australian Shepherd Club of Ontario (ASCO) was formed in 1993 with the directive to promote and protect the Australian Shepherd in Ontario. 


  • ASCO is an affiliate of the Canadian Kennel Club


  • In keeping with the mandate to promote and protect the Australian Shepherd in Ontario ASCO works diligently to educate the general public about the breed.



  • Recently there has been a rise in the movement to breed a miniature version of the Australian Shepherd. 

    The Miniature Australian Shepherd is not recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) or by the Australian Shepherd Club of Ontario (ASCO). 

    ASCO does not support the purposeful breeding of Miniature Australian Shepherds, and expects all members who have breeding programs to breed to the CKC recognized standard of excellence.  ASCO further expects all members to be ever vigilant in the preservation and protection of the Australian Shepherd.

Our Members:

  • Our membership encompasses the gamut of "Aussie Activities" ~ from people with a passion for performance to the most ardent conformation show enthusiasts to people  who only want a lifelong Aussie friend....

Our Events:

  • ASCO supports entries at CKC conformation shows and obedience trials throughout the province (Boosters), and holds a Specialty Show bi-yearly. 

    The picture at right was taken from ringside at the 2004 Specialty held in conjunction with the Trio Kennel Club show...


  • The Annual Aussie Fun Day - a chance for all Aussie people to get together for an informal day of fun with their dogs and other Aussie enthusiasts - more info on the Events page...


  • Occasionally ASCO offers herding, obedience and agility education to its members by its members. 


  • ASCO offers members a special section of this website with up-to-date official club information to keep them informed on the latest ASCO happenings, including a section devoted to informative articles, doggie humour and whatever else the members send in to share with others.  There is also an unofficial OntarioAussie Group on Yahoo - which is only open to ASCO members.
